As Farm Safety Week draws to a close, Farmsafe Australia have today announced that registration for the Farmsafe Australia 2022 National Conference have opened. Titled ‘Farmsafe Conference 2022 - 'Recipe for Averting Disaster’, the event will be held in September.

To commemorate Farm Safety Week and celebrate Australian agriculture, Farmsafe Australia have announced the release of a cookbook titled: Recipe for Averting Disaster. Australian farmers nationwide are encouraged to contribute their own recipes as an avenue to improving farm safety.

Harsh and unrelenting environments, physically demanding work and current labour shortages are contributing to longer working hours and extreme fatigue among farmers nationwide. This Farm Safety Week, Farmsafe Australia is urging farmers to address fatigue to reduce farm workplace injury and fatalities, particularly as farmers work to overcome impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

COMPLACENCY - A SILENT KILLER ON AUSSIE FARMS

In 2021, 58.7 per cent of farm fatalities were farmers over the age of 45. With time and experience in the industry, complacency can often creep in and be an underlying risk for injury or fatality.
